Animal lovers raise money for brave Lurcher living in ‘enormous pain’
Amazing animal lovers have banded together to raise money for a brave Lurcher suffering with “severe” hip dysplasia.
13-month-old Flash, a Lurcher staying at Jerry Green Dog Rescue, North Lincolnshire, is living in “enormous pain”, struggling to enjoy the simplest of activities like running around, going for long walks, or even chase a ball around.
A spokesperson for the shelter said Flash’s discomfort was “obvious from the start”, adding:
“We booked him in for x-rays straight away which revealed that our fears were correct, and Flash had a long road ahead of him. Flash has severe hip dysplasia in his back left hip, to the point where his hip is regularly popping in and out of the socket, causing pain that is hard for us to even imagine.”
The handsome Lurcher has been prescribed strong pain medication to ease some of the suffering, but this is only a short-term fix – Flash will need to undergo surgery for a “chance” to live a normal and happy life.
Unfortunately, an operation of this nature will come at an enormous cost with the charity describing it as a “significant financial burden.”
The shelter decided to share Flash’s brave story with the public and received incredible love and generosity.
In a social media post, Jerry Green Dog Rescue said:
“Can you help us get Flash back on his feet? Please donate what you can to help us to help Flash, and all of the dogs that need us.
“Any funds raised over Flash’s surgery amount, will go towards the care of all of our Jerry Green dogs.”
Animal lovers were quick to offer their support with monetary donations flooding in to aid the brilliant appeal!
“Donated. Also, post shared. Hope Flash gets all the help he needs so he can get better and have a long, healthy, happy life xx”, said one animal lover.
“Aww bless him, he deserves this chance and thank you for giving it to him, donated xxx”, added another.
Following the heart-warming generosity, the charity issued an update message filled with love and gratitude.
“Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to Flash’s surgery appeal, we are once again overwhelmed by the support of our wonderful communities and couldn’t be more grateful!.
“Flash is currently being cared for by our experienced welfare team and they are doing lots of enrichment with him to keep him occupied and as happy as possible while his movements are having to be so restricted. We will keep everyone updated on his journey and how he gets on with his surgery”, Jerry Green’s said.
The charity concluded their update by indicating they are looking for a loving foster home, in North Lincolnshire, for Flash as he recovers from surgery, adding:
“All food, medicine, bedding etc. will be provided and all costs for Flash covered by Jerry Green Dog Rescue, he just needs someone to give him a bit of love and TLC.”
