Beloved Scunthorpe salon celebrates 20 years of business!

A beloved salon in Scunthorpe celebrates 20 amazing years of business in the town.

Chameleon Hair & Beauty, 73 Enderby Rd, was opened on Thursday June 2002, proving gorgeous beauty service across two decades for Scunthorpe locals.

Owner, Allie Drewery, spoke about her pride and accomplishments throughout her time running the business, a tale of humble beginnings and local love!

Allie told Gi Scunthorpe News she opened her business just one year after finishing college. Additionally, Allie had not enrolled onto her college course straight after school, instead she began her studies at the age of 38, proving you are never too late to kick-start a new career.

Although Allie had no prior experience in business, or even working a full-time job, she wanted to make her dreams a reality, adding:

“I wanted to have something of my own rather than be part of someone’s else’s dream.” – A truly inspirational message that illustrates the hard work and dedication that Allie has exhibited throughout the years.

After taking a lease out on a property, Allie “kitted the place out” and soon opened Chameleon Hair & Beauty’s doors to the public. She stated her long running, successful business was thanks to her “determination” and a little bit of luck, adding that she is “so proud” of her accomplishments.

“Of course, it’s not always been easy particularly with the difficulties over the pandemic, but it was a case of nursing our way through, keeping my wonderful staff on board and when we reopened it was like starting over again… we were so grateful to all our lovely loyal customers for sticking it out and coming back to us!”, Allie said.

“I’m eternally grateful to my lovely girls Davina (my absolute rock of a manager… been with me about 15 years) and Claire and more recently Zoe, who trained with us from school, left to have her family and has now returned back to our salon family”, she added.

Davina Keeton, Allie’s wonderful manager, said she “loves” her job and Allie is a “great boss and a really good friend.”

“I am really pleased to be celebrating 20 years of business”, she added.

Allie has now retired from working in the salon and has instead retained her focus towards the financial side of her business, knowing her salon is in “good hands.”

“As for me… I’m so proud of the place and grateful to my staff and the customers who have helped keep it successful that I can’t imagine doing anything else!”, Allie told.

“Even though I’m almost 62… having the salon keeps my mind busy and gives me a reason to never give in! If I can achieve 20 years from absolutely nothing… the future is still shiny bright!”, she concluded.

Congratulations, Allie! Here’s to the next milestone!
