6-year-old girl holds Humber Bridge charity walk to rebuild destroyed park

A 6-year-old girl will be hosting a charity walk across the Humber Bridge this weekend in the hopes of rebuilding her favourite park.

Back in April, Pilgrim Park in Immingham was set ablaze, with locals looking out their windows shocked to see plumes of smoke.

Two 13-year-olds were arrested shortly after but unfortunately, the playground was completely destroyed in the blaze.

One frustrated local said: “This is absolutely disgusting. The same people who destroyed it are no doubt the ones who will complain that there is nothing to do in the local area. I hope they’re caught and held to account!”

Another added: “That’s church park out of action then. There’s already very little for young children to do in the area without malicious idiots destroying things.

“Even if the council agreed to invest in nearby parks some mindless idiots would just burn it down or wreck it.”

However, Elysia is planning on rebuilding her favourite park after she was left devastated by the fire.

On Sunday 19 June, Elysia will be joined by nearly 5o people to walk across the Humber Bridge so she and her friends can have their favourite park back and better than ever.

Absolutely smashing her initial goal of £500, 6-year-old Elysia has now raised a whopping £1000 towards rebuilding Pilgrim Park.

We spoke to Elysia when she first decided to take action and help her local community, listen to what she had to say here!

Anyone who wishes to make a donation can do so here.
