Festival of the Sea returns to Grimsby this summer!

The fantastic Festival of the Sea returns to Grimsby for the second year on the Freshney Waterfront to celebrate Grimsby’s relationship with the sea.

Enjoy vibrant street theatre, live music and dance from talented local and national artists in the town centre during the day.

Grab a bite to eat from food stalls that celebrate Grimsby’s links to the sea through its world-leading seafood sector.

There’ll be activities for young people, families and friends, on site, or sign up for one of the walks to discover more about Grimsby’s heritage.

View the Docks Timeline along the walkway from Garth Line Bridge towards the Fishing Heritage Centre and make time to visit the Ross Tiger if it’s been a while since you were last on board.

Experience outdoor performance and explore our current connections to the new industries of the North Sea, home to the largest offshore wind farm in the world.

Based on the River Freshney waterfront on  16 July, this fun filled day produced the The Culture House and Walk the Planka and is sponsored by Grimsby Creates.

Sharing the exciting news, The Culture House said: “Part of our focus of #FoSea is focussing on our connection to the sea and our local rivers, how they have sustained our town throughout its history and continue to do this in the present and into the future.

“That’s why this year we will be located around the waterfront between the River Freshney and Alexandra Dock. This area, by the Fishing Heritage Centre is known as Heritage Square. We’re so excited to be offering various activities which bring us to the waters edge and even offering the chance to get into the river itself!”
