Over £400 raised for charity after gruelling Ultra Endurance Event!

A local man took it upon himself to take part in a gruelling cycling event, as part of a drive to raise money for a local charity.

As an avid cyclist, Chris had taken the challenge to complete the momentous route, being the first Ultra Endurance Event he had attempted.

The route was around 1000km and is part of the ‘All Points North’ event, to be completed in 80 hours.

Chris left Sheffield on Thursday 2nd June, to ride to 10 ‘control’ points around the North of England and returned to Sheffield, at 8 pm on Sunday 5th June.

He has now completed the Ultra Endurance Event and has raised over £400 for a local charity, Doorstep.

“Super happy about completing this. Lots of lessons learned for North Cape. A few dark moments mainly due to sleeping rough at a bus stop and a railway siding but other than that it was spectacular!

“Thank you very much for the donations….over £400 raised so far for Doorstep.” Chris wrote.

On social media prior, Chris wrote information about his ride:

“On Thursday I will be riding in All Points North. This is the first Ultra Endurance Event I have ever attempted. All Points North is a self-supported, ultra-distance, endurance cycling event. My route will take me 1000km, climbing over 43000ft and all to be completed in 80 hours

“I will set off from Sheffield on Thursday 2nd June with the challenge to ride to 10 control points spread around the north of England and return to Sheffield for a finisher’s meal at 8 pm on Sunday 5th June.

“Riders can choose their route around the checkpoints and can either ride solo or as a pair. Once out on the road, I have to be completely self-sufficient and I will be unable to accept support from anyone and must stick to the event rules.

“During the ride, I am hoping to raise a small amount of cash to help a local charity – Doorstep. They provide support to young people and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. I know times are hard but if you can spare some loose change then every little helps”. (l
