The incredible generosity of the footballing community continues!

The incredible generosity of the entire footballing community continues as donations keep flooding in.

Throughout the week, the footballing world have joined together to send Grimsby Town fans to the play-off final, following the controversial ticket price announcement.

The Mariners Trust were at the heart of the charitable efforts after they set up a fund for struggling families. Additionally, popular businesses donated to the Trust’s initiative in a mission to help as many Town supporters as possible.

Donations towards the fund have now reached £24,000! – Vanarama, the National League sponsor, have also pledged an additional £20,000 to both Grimsby Town and Solihull Moors, an act of kindness to overturn the frustration regarding ticket prices.

In a statement, the Mariners Trust indicated fans from across the county had donated money to the appeal, such as Sheffield Wednesday, Bradford, Swindon and AFC Bournemouth.

The Trust also thanked fans from Wrexham, a side knocked out of the play-offs by Grimsby, after their fans gave money to send Mariners to London on Sunday.

“So what now? Members of the Trust board will now go through forms received from people requesting help or nominating people for assistance – this could be just for ticket purchase or ticket purchase and transport”, The Trust said.

“We will look to help as many fans as we can with this money. Additionally, we have been in contact with Solihull Moors to let them know that the equivalent of 4 adults, 4 concessions and 4 booking fees will be allocated to them too”, they added.

Meanwhile, Vanarama looked to rectify issues experienced during this season’s play-offs with a truly amazing gift of £40,000 which would be split between both clubs in the final.

“As title sponsor it’s our intention always to have a positive impact on the league, its clubs and the fans. We are in constant contact with the league but unfortunately have no say over venue and pricing”, they said in a statement.

We’ve donated £20,000 each to Grimsby Town (via The Mariners Trust) and Solihull Moors to help with their fans’ travel and to bring down costs for kids tickets. We’re speaking to the league about doing more to listen to and understand the fans to avoid this happening again”, they added.
