Officers and volunteers receive training on how to police sporting events
Although the football season is nearing an end, officers from Humberside Police attending a training day to learn how to better police sporting events.
Last week, officers and volunteers attended a training day at the MKM Stadium in Hull to take part in a series of exercises on how to police sporting events.
The goal was to run through various scenarios that may occur during matches such as fans storming the pitches.
Overseen by trainers and experienced matchday officers, they were joined by force volunteers and Public Service students from Bishop Burton College, who put their all into ensuring a realistic crowd was in place.
This training preempts Grimsby Town’s appearance at London Stadium this Sunday where they will face Solihull Moors FC in the final.
Humberside Police said: “The domestic football season may have ended for most of our region’s clubs – apart from Grimsby Town who vie for a swift return to the Football League on Sunday!
“However, our efforts to ensure people can enjoy sporting events safely continues.
“Working with partners and the stadium company, the event was a great opportunity to attempt realistic training on this level.
“We would like to thank all of the volunteers and students from Bishop Burton, who took the time to add an extra dimension to the training, as well as the stadium company for their support and cooperation.
