Man arrested after ‘bladed weapon’ found in vehicle excessively speeding

Humberside Police have released a statement regarding an incident.
Last night, a vehicle was spotted driving excessive speeds in Grimsby and failing to stop for police vehicles.
A man was arrested shortly after failing to stop for police, he was then apprehended on Granville Street by officers.
The man also attempted to flee the scene when he was tracked down by officers.
In their statement about the incident they said:
“An officer in Grimsby spotted a vehicle driving at excessive speed on Freeman Street at around 10:45pm last night (Tuesday 31 May).
“The vehicle reportedly failed to stop but was tracked down to the Granville Street area minutes later. An occupant tried to flee the scene but was apprehended by the officer.

“After conducting searches, a man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a bladed weapon.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident can contact us on our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 550 of 31 May.

“Alternatively, you can report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
