Beautiful wellbeing garden has opened in Scunthorpe

A beautiful wellbeing garden has officially opened in Normanby Hall County Park, Scunthorpe.

A brand-new garden dedicated to wellbeing has opened following the council’s Park and Gardens team, in collaboration with local craftspeople, working tirelessly to bring dreams into reality.

Visitors can now enjoy the natural beauty of the 300-acre “relaxing space”

The park was officially opened on 27 May. Andrew Percy, the Brigg and Goole MP, joined Robb Waltham and additional partners on the project during the opening ceremony.

Cllr Waltham said:

“The wellbeing garden is the latest in a long line of fantastic additions to the facilities at Normanby Hall and I am thrilled to see it open”

“We are fortunate to have such stunning green spaces in North Lincolnshire and we know how important these places are for residents’ health and wellbeing”, he added.

“We are continuing to invest heavily in our parks and cultural attractions to make sure they look their brilliant best”

“Normanby is a great example of this – it is a fantastic destination for the whole family – whether visitors are cooling off in the splash pad, swinging through the trees at Go Ape, discovering fascinating history in the hall and rural life museum, or enjoying a round of golf, they are guaranteed a brilliant day out”

The idyllic setting features an array of beautiful shrubs, grasses, and flowers littering the park with eye-catching colours.

Local trainees, studying with on-site partner R-evolution, spent hours of their own time decorating the area with a wealth of visually pleasing ‘beauty spots’

Furthermore, a “special memorial bench” has been erected in the park thanks to a very generous donation from The Scunthorpe Samaritans.

The bench is ideal to take a seat whilst you explore the peaceful surroundings – wooden animal carvings and plants including clematis, jasmine, hellebores, and much more will transport you into a world calmness.

Paul Baker, Director at Scunthorpe Samaritans said:

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with North Lincolnshire Council by buying a bench for the new wellbeing garden at Normanby Hall, one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the area. We hope that visitors to the garden will think of Samaritans if they need somebody to talk things over with at any time day or night”

“In an increasingly hectic world anyone can ring us for free, at any time, without an appointment on 116 123, and we can give you the time and space to talk about how you are feeling. You can also email us at jo@samaritans.org. We are always here, and we will never judge”, he added.

The council said you can support the amazing facilities at Normany Hall buy purchasing an annual membership – for just £21, you will gain access to the park year-round, complimentary parking, and free entry to special event days!
