Anger as tractors ‘reckless and dangerous’ driving ruins road

Locals have shared their frustration as a road and pathway have been left covered in mud and damaged by a ‘reckless’ tractor driver.

Waltham residents took to social media yesterday after a tractor came off Grimsby Road and headed into the village, dredging up grass as he went.

Metal fences were also badly damaged as locals felt grateful no one was hurt in the incident.

One set of metal blades originally attached to the tractor also came off, remaining on the side of the road.

Sharing the images on Facebook, a resident stated: “Well done to blue tractor who was driving through Waltham at 3.15 pm and causing such a mess!!! You clearly shouldn’t be on the road and you’re so lucky you didn’t kill someone!”

Some felt grateful that no children were around as the blades could have caused serious damage: “No way should he be that far over he’s dragging his implements down verges, railings and ultimately tearing them off on a raised obstacle, at 3 pm that obstacle could have been a kiddies head. This could have been so much worse.”

Another said: “He came out of a field off Grimsby road. I know because he pulled out in front of me and proceeded to tear up all the verges. Granted he was too wide for the carriage way so he was sacrificing the verge rather than people’s cars but the fact he got caught on the railings and tore off his blades and then failed to stop is a big issue. Very dangerous and could easily have been a different outcome as the high street was busy with the school run and traffic at that time.”

One local felt that the incident should be reported to the police: “Somebody knows who this idiot is and he wants reporting to the police for dangerous driving, clearly no idea what’s he’s doing. If the field he came from can be identified the Police can find the landowner.”
