Swan receiving emergency treatment for ‘one of the worst’ parasite and flea infestations ever seen
A mute swan rescued by a local wildlife rescue has been admitted for emergency treatment for one of the worst parasite and flea infestations the team has ever seen.
Earlier this week Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue travelled to Barton-upon-Humber to help a mute swan who kept collapsing when attempting to stand.
As no other teams could come to help, the rescue team brought the swan back for treatment.
Upon further inspection and treatment, it became clear that this swan needed emergency care for a terrible parasite and flea infection which could cost up to £500.
Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue said: “Yesterday we chose to admit Barton the mute swan into our vets for advanced treatment as he was not showing any improvement with standard treatment.
“Barton has one of the worst parasite and flea infestations that we’ve ever seen, because of this his health is at a very low point, and is on constant fluids and electrolytes to help him fight through.
“If you’re able to help in any way it would be hugely appreciated!”
The team are asking for locals to donate any amount they can to help get this swan back to full health.
Any donations can be made through their fundraising page found here.
