Anger as new Scartho park ‘ruined’

Locals in Scartho were divided recently over their opinions on the new park that is being on Scartho Top.

The new park, which residents say they have waited ten years for currently contains a slide, a swing, and the base of a spinning roundabout.

However, unfortunately, the park has fallen victim to anti-social behaviour and ‘vandalism’.

Residents shared their frustration and anger on social media as the images emerged of the park.

“Why do people have to ruin everything!! I took my two little girls there the other day and they loved it!!” one resident wrote.

“I took my kids here with my friend and her two sons and my friend’s little boy fell over and grazed his leg and arm. To some people, this may be a bit of mud that will brush away but it’s so slippery and dangerous.” one frustrated local commented.

As a positive development, a resident took it upon themselves to clear up the mess.

“There are loads thrown on it, definitely a group of people has done this deliberately and for quite a while. I’ve brushed most of the larger lumps of stones and mud away. The sand and gravel dust need a pressure washer to remove it. Once the area has a proper path and the grass around it grows, there will be nothing to throw on it.” he said.

The park was still under construction but many locals have been left upset by the lackluster park, adding that other areas have much better facilities.

One wrote: “From Scartho village we visit Holton Le Clay park, Haverstoe park Cleethorpes, People’s park and Waltham parks. Far better than that behind the Rose n Crown. It’s shameful that the £5K ward grant has still not been possibly used from 2019”
