Frustration again as Town only given 1,200 tickets

Grimsby Town fans have shared their frustration after news broke regarding ticket allocation for Saturday’s Semi-Final.

After beating Notts County in extra-time on Monday (23 May), the Mariners booked their place the Play-Off Semi-Finals against Wrexham.

The fixture against County was played at Meadow Lane, a stadium with a capacity 20,000. However, the hosts only allocated Grimsby 2,000 tickets which frustrated supporters.

Subsequently, the club screened the match at McMenemy’s to allow fans an alternative viewing experience.

Now, the Dragons have issued Town with 1,200 tickets for the weekend clash.

Although Wrexham’s ground seats half of Notts County’s, Grimsby fans feel let down yet again.

“Disgraceful allocation by Wrexham but hardly unexpected in the same way that County disrespected our supporters”, one Mariner said.

“1200. Seriously? What a joke”, added another.

Conversely, some fans understood the rationale behind the ticket allocation and remained positive after the announcement.

“After the unbelievable experience of being there last night, I’m not going to attempt to get to this one. Someone else can have that chance”, said one considerate fan.

“If there aren’t the physical seats to sell, you can’t sell them. Very different from Notts”, another stated.

In a statement, Grimsby said the tickets will be sold exclusively to season ticket holders from Wednesday 25 May, on a one-for-one basis.

Additional information can be found on the club’s website.
