Firefighters battle dangerous blaze in the early hours

Firefighters battled a dangerous blaze in the early hours this morning.

Firefighters were called after a fire began to envelop a building on Gresley Road, Louth.

In an emergency statement, the Louth Fire Service urged nearby residents to keep their doors and windows closed.

It is understood that the blaze needed additional crews from Binbrook, Mablethorpe, Grantham, Alford, Caistor, and Horncastle to eradicate the dangerous flames.

Eventually, fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze by using breathing apparatus, 3 hose reels, 1 main jet, and thermal imaging cameras.

Thankfully, no casualties were reported but there had been extensive damage to the roofs and first floors of three properties.

The cause of the blaze has not yet been identified.
