Update after serious assault in Grimsby leaves man hospitalised
Humberside Police have sealed off a section of footpath labelled as a crime scene, with officers and debris being seen on the path.
A crime scene cordon is in place on a section of footpath on Bethlehem Street starting from outside Bacons Property Management shop to Canters Estate Agents.
Humberside Police have released a statement regarding the assault:
“Police attended reports of an assault on Bethlehem Street last night (Friday, 13 May). A man was found unconscious on the road and taken to hospital with what is believed to be at this time life-threatening injuries.
“One man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody.
“A scene is in place in the area whilst officers carry out enquiries. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting log number 646.”
There were Crime officers on the scene gathering evidence.
Shoppers were having to walk on the road to avoid the taped-off area.
The bus lane was affected by the police cars at the scene as they conducted their investigations.
A bus shelter has been damaged and broken glass can be seen on the ground.
