Residents reject housing plans to combine Scartho and Waltham

Residents in Scartho and Waltham have raised concerns and rejected new housing plans that would see the two areas combined.

Submitted by Snape Properties LTD, the plans would see 64 new homes built just off Torbay Drive in Waltham.

The homes would consist of 22 two-bed semi bungalows, seven two-bed detached bungalows, two three-bed detached bungalows, 20 three-bed semi houses, six four-bed semi houses, and three four-bed detached houses.

The application also proposes plans for access roads, driveways, and landscaping.

A similar application to build houses in the same field was submitted and refused by North East Lincolnshire Council five years ago.

The initial application was for 59 new homes, and an appeal to build 51 homes was also turned down.

Some residents are furious about the proposal, making their voices heard by objecting to the plans.

One resident said: “There are enough houses being built around here, I’m dreading it when Wigmore Park is finished. The traffic is standstill at the minute for anyone trying to get to work for 9 am around here, it’s just an absolute joke.”

Another shared their worries for residents: “The very nature of construction of houses necessitates the use of very large construction vehicles being propelled in a safe way through residential streets. Such would cause extreme disturbance, noise, and the potential of pollution.

“Local residential roads around Torbay Drive have properties with and without driveways. Many residents have several cars that cannot be placed in driveways necessitating their being parked on the road restricting the passage of larger vehicles.”
