Yet another fuel covered swan found by wildlife volunteers

Another swan contaminated with fuel has been found by Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue just days after Diesel the swan was found covered in fuel.

Last night the rescue team shared how another swan had been spotted alone near Hobson Way with contaminants on its feathers.

As this was the same area where Diesel the swan was found it could indicate a possible chemical spill.

The two swans could also be a pair, making their separation even more heart-wrenching.

Although the swan couldn’t be collected by volunteers, they spent three hours tirelessly searching the area for the poor bird.

They will head back in the daylight to locate the swan but have asked tarvellers to keep an eye out in the area and to offer an exact location when safe to do so.

Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue said: “We’ve been made aware of another lone swan in the South Marsh Road / Hobson Way Stallingborough which looks to also have some contaminants on its feathers, as this is the same location as the swan we previously collected, it could potentially be related to same chemical spill – They could also be a pair so getting them back together and healthy again would be great!

“We’ve got to say a massive thank you to our volunteers, although the swan wasn’t located, they responded within an hour and have spent over 3 hours searching the area (arriving home at 00:45!)

“We will be heading back during daylight but ask that you keep an eye out when travelling in the area, get an exact location when possible, and report it to us as soon as it’s safe to do so!”
