Haverstoe Park targeted by anti-social behaviour

In another spate of anti-social behaviour recently, Haverstoe Park in Cleethorpes has been left damaged by mindless vandals.

Locals woke shocked yesterday morning (8 May) to find that the park had been vandalized, with trees damaged, gates broken and debris left from deliberate fires.

Others also reported seeing an increase in rubbish and litter around the park, with some residents taking it upon themselves to clean the area.

Bottles and cans of alcohol were spotted around the fire debris, which locals then cleaned up.

A local said: “Lots of rubbish in the park this morning done 2 litter picks but still loads more not had time to pick any more up usual place.”

Another replied: “I’ve just picked up all the bottles and cans from the back field. I deliberately left the corner crap as maybe they need to sit in their own mess and see how pleasant that is.”

Bark had been scraped off multiple trees while a gat had been completely pulled off its hinges and thrown onto the ground.

Angry locals took to Facebook to share their shock at the attack.

One wrote: “Disgusting. Need police down there in the evening to find out whos doing it and make them pay for the damage it’s disgusting.”

Another added: “It’s a lovely park and we live in a nice area. What is wrong with this/these particular brainless morons. Can’t imagine they’ll get anywhere in life! Hopefully, the community police will help, I thought that’s the sort of thing they do help with.”

Others reported that they had seen other instances of anti-social behaviour in the park recently: “We put a fire out last week that the morons had started, I just don’t know what’s wrong with these people or what the answer is.”

Many solutions to the issue have been discussed, with the overall argument being that locals should band together and ask the local authority and local policing teams to increase surveillance of the area and increase preventative measures.
