Grimsby Philharmonic concert set for minster with Ukraine prayer
The Grimsby Philharmonic choir is back this weekend with their third concert since restrictions were relaxed.
The group are performing at Grimsby Minster and will be coming together also for with a prayer for Ukraine.
The group posted to social media about the concert informing those about their return.
The concert will take place at Grimsby Minster on Saturday, 7th May.
“We’re back on Saturday 7th May (this Saturday!) with our third concert since we returned to face to face rehearsals last September.
“This time we are in Grimsby Minster, singing two gorgeous Requiems from Rutter and Fauré, together with a prayer for the people of Ukraine.
“We have Elizabeth Bottone singing the soprano part, Chris Nolan playing cello and Steven Maxson playing the magnificent Grimsby Minster organ.
“Our very own Mark Cuerton sings the baritone solos, and our multi-talented chorus master will put down her baton to play oboe for part of the programme. Lots to look forward to!”
Tickets will be available to acquire on the door of the venue.
Based in Grimsby, NE Lincs, they are one of the area’s leading mixed choirs. The choir performs a variety of classical music under the baton of Chorus Master, Karen Beer.
The choir has performed with other local choirs, Scunthorpe Choral Society and Grimsby Bach Choir, and has been conducted by visiting conductors such as David Lawrence, Andrew Padmore, Richard Howarth and Jeremy Jackman.
The group are affiliated with Making Music and in 2012 were chosen to take part in their Adopt A Composer Scheme.
The groups rehearsals take place every Monday at 7.30pm in the Roy Kemp Room, Central Hall, Grimsby and the choir performs 3 concerts a year, usually at the Central Hall.
