Mixed reactions from locals as Scartho Top gets a new park
Locals in Scartho have been divided recently over their opinions on the new park that is being constructed on Scartho Top.
The new park, which residents say they have waited ten years for currently contains a slide, a swing, and the base of a spinning roundabout.
The park is still under construction but many locals have been left upset by the lacklustre park, adding that other areas have much better facilities.
One wrote: “From Scartho village we visit Holton Le Clay park, Haverstoe park Cleethorpes, People’s park and Waltham parks. Far better than that behind the Rose n Crown. It’s shameful that the £5K ward grant has still not been possibly used from 2019”
Another felt ‘disappointed’ by the lack of baby equipment: “I walked by today very disappointed only 3 things no baby swing or any for toddlers.”
However, some have come to the park’s defence, adding that a bigger park could have attracted anti-social behaviour.
One resident wrote: “People will moan if it was a big park and kids started hanging around on it.”
Another added: “Be grateful you have some outdoor space.”
Some are trying to remain optimistic that the park will look better once completed: “Fingers crossed they will build something else. There is a path going alongside BOTH parks with planted trees etc but nothing else in sight.”
Both Linden Homes and North East Lincolnshire Council have been contacted to determine who is responsible for the building and maintenance of the park.
