New Tesco to open in former Jack’s store tomorrow
Tesco will open its new superstore in Immingham at the former Jack’s site tomorrow morning with an exciting ceremony.
The store will open to the public at 7 am with the official ribbon cutting happening at 10 am.
The store will also be presenting a £1,000 cheque to Immingham Football Club to commemorate this exciting occasion.
Back in January, Tesco announced the closure of its 13 Jack’s stores less than four years after the retailer was launched.
Six of the branches are being converted into Tesco superstores and the rest will be permanently shut.
Immingham’s Jack’s store closed its doors for the final time on March 14, two months after the news broke.
Jack’s was first created for Tesco’s centenary and to also win back shoppers from Aldi and Lidl who offer cheaper own-brand alternatives.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “As well as providing a wide range of affordable, healthy, and sustainable food, the Immingham Tesco superstore will also have a positive impact on the local community through its community programmes – Tesco Community Grants and Community Food Connection across Immingham and the surrounding area.
“Supporting the local community is hugely important to Tesco and its colleagues, and over the last five years, the supermarket’s customers across the east of England have helped to raise more than £10m for more than 4800 local groups and good causes through its blue token voting scheme known as Tesco Community Grants.
“Since its launch in 2015, the Tesco Community Food Connection Scheme has also donated 8.7 million meals to local charities in the area. The scheme has ensured no surplus food goes to waste from Tesco stores and distribution centres.
“Given the pressures on household budgets, Tesco remains committed to providing value now more than ever. We know our customers are looking to save money on their food shop and this store will have a combination of Aldi price match, low everyday prices, and clubcard prices ensuring they are getting the best deals every time they shop with us.”
The new store’s opening hours are 7 am to 11 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am to 4 pm on Sundays.
