Grimsby fans join King’s Lynn to pay respects

Yesterday, Grimsby Town and King’s Lynn Town supporters paid their respects to a lifelong Linnets fan who sadly passed away.

During the Mariners 1-0 away trip yesterday afternoon, both sides “brilliantly observed” a minute’s applause to remember Lee Calton, a King’s Lynn Fan who sadly died one year ago.

On the 8th minute, the stadium erupted as both sets of fans clapped in unison, an incredibly beautiful spectacle.

Around 2,000 Grimsby fans travelled for the fixture against the National League strugglers, with the Black and White Amy highlighting how wonderful our supporters truly are!

Around the hosts home, the Walks, banners had been displayed to pay tribute to Lee, reading:

“Lee Calton. The captain. Forever one of us.”

After the game concluded, King’s Lynn took to social media to thank the fans for their kind behaviour, stating that “the whole stadium” came together to pay their respects.

In another post, the Linnets simply said: “thank you for joining in Grimsby”

Yesterday’s tie evidenced how thoughtful and considerate the Mariners are.

Grimsby will be back at home this weekend to face Torquay United!
