Toll Bar works come to an end – for now
Gas installation works which have been causing ongoing disruption at Toll Bar roundabout in New Waltham have finally come to an end.
The scheme, which was related to a nearby housing project, began earlier this month following years of controversy and improvement works to the roundabout, which have seen motorists subjected to ongoing delays and complications.
The gas works were due to finish early last week, but were extended due to reports of a “mechanical fault”.
They have now been completed and motorists the traffic flow has returned to normal.
However, disruption is set to resume next month with Anglian Water confirming a new programme of works.
The Anglian Water works were due to start last week at Toll Bar Avenue, but have now been postponed until May 9.
Cadent Gas have also scheduled further works to begin in 2023.
Locals have branded the situation “chaos” and an “absolute nightmare”.
Local businesses have also complained that the situation has been a “major blow” to trade as ongoing construction work puts people off visiting their stores.
Updates to follow.
