Lincoln bypass plan approved
There are plans for a £212m bypass near Lincoln.
The plans have reportedly been approved.
The carriageway would link the A46 Pennells Roundabout to the Lincoln Eastern Bypass.
It would create a ring road around the city.
Construction is allegedly supposed to begin in November 2025.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, Lincolnshire County Council’s executive committee approved the details.
These included surveys, details, and planning applications, the contract is with construction firm Balfour Beatty.
It is hoped the road will reduce traffic around North Hykeham, Lincoln.
It should improve connections to the Midlands and Humber Ports.
According to reports, the costs are estimated to be between £179m and £212m.
From the BBC, Councillor Martin Hill said “Pulled the trigger ready for the next three years”.
Allegedly there is a funding gap for the project, he added: “It will remain one of the top priorities of the future when we get other future funding for the council, but it might mean other schemes might have to slip to keep us within the financial envelope”.
Council officers said they were confident deliver.
