New Waltham residents furious after surge in drug-taking and anti-social behaviour

Locals and leaders in New Waltham have been left furious recently as youths have been spotted selling and taking drugs, kicking cars, and carrying out anti-social behaviour.

Drug deals have been spotted taking place on CCTV footage, prompting concerns from locals.

Drug packets have also been littered around the area, worrying parents that their children may mistake the litter for something else, especially due to the childlike batman packaging.

Dog owners have also become worried as it would be very easy for a pet to get its nose into a packet and eat something potentially dangerous.

Although the incidents have been reported to the police, the parish council have asked locals to send any information they have on those involved and to keep an eye out for any future activity.

Sharing the shocking behaviour to Facebook, New Waltham Parish Council said: “The caretaker was faced with loads of rubbish strewn about this morning. Decided to check the CCTV to discover a group (who we’ve seen before), not only making the mess, but a drug deal, grinding it and then leaving drug packets behind for dogs to get or small children (especially with the designs on them) and even kicking and throwing a ball about, which is seen bouncing off the cars. No respect.

“A lot of images to view… but please do scroll through. Please send any names through privately. We will be sending all our HD 4K footage (this shown is low res for FB) to the police and the local schools. LOG NUMBER HP-20220325-0476”

Many locals shared their astonishment at the images shared on social media, with one writing: “It certainly is a sad state of affairs, don’t know what the answer is, maybe some of the parents will recognise their little dears and maybe teach them a lesson!”

Another wrote: “East Marsh New Waltham Great Coates Scartho……it doesn’t matter where your kids are born if you don’t instil discipline and respect your kids will let you down and saying it’s not my kids is a big part of the problem!”

One concerned resident suggested that the council needed to do more to prevent anti-social behaviour: “I’ve noticed a huge amount of rubbish in this village this week, it’s a shame, the bins are also overflowing and need to be emptied, we pay a huge amount of council tax.

“People are leaving bags of rubbish too, think it’s called fly-tipping. Council enforcement should focus on this. The drug packets have been around for years so that’s continuing because it’s not been stopped.”
