Lack of progress leaves motorists frustrated
There are long delays for motorists due to ongoing waterworks on Littlecoates road.
According to reports, causing frustration for the lack of progress.
Anglian Water is installing new water main for a large housing development on the former Western School site.
Temporary traffic lights have been in operation and are expected to remain until the end of April.
Philip Jackson has described the lack of progress as “unacceptable” as little work has been going on over the past week.
Last month North East Lincolnshire Council leaders vowed to clamp down on temporary roadworks where no one is working.
According to reports, they said officers will visit areas to ensure that licenses are being complied with.
Councillor Jackson said: “There is single file traffic light control in place which is causing massive traffic queues at peak times and increasing pollution. There was no work taking place on-site in the latter half of last week and not over the weekend.”
“As the leader of the council I contacted Anglian Water directly on Friday afternoon asking that the two-way traffic be restored ASAP and I was promised that someone would get back to me. No one did. I contacted them again on Saturday and again no one got back to me.
“Anglian Water’s behavior is unacceptable both in terms of the unnecessary inconvenience they are causing to road users in Grimsby and their unwillingness to engage with me over it.”
