Visiting rules tightened at Grimsby and Scunthorpe maternity wards
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust have today announced a number of new restrictions at maternity wards in Grimsby and Scunthorpe.
The trust have now retracted an earlier statement which allowed women to be accompanied by a second birth partner.
This is due to an increase in the number of COVID positive patients at the hospitals.
Currently, all other visiting restrictions remain the same throughout the department.
A spokesperson for the trust said: “It is with regret we have to temporarily suspend second birth partners attending during labour and delivery due to an increase in the number of COVID-positive patients in our hospitals.
“Our number one priority is the safety of our pregnant patients, babies and staff which is why we’ve made this very difficult decision.
“We will be reviewing our visiting restrictions regularly and will update you when anything changes.
“All other maternity visiting remains the same.”
Updates to follow.
