Littlefield Lane to close for roadworks
North East Lincolnshire Council has announced upgrades to traffic signal equipment to improve traffic flow and journey time at Littlefield Lane, on the A1136 Cromwell Road, Dudley Street junction.
The works will be managed and overseen by the council’s partner, EQUANS, with contractor PBS Construction (NE) Ltd carrying out the works, which also includes carriageway resurfacing and repainting of road markings.
Due to a national shortage of electronic equipment, the scheme will be delivered in two phases.
The first phase will take place between 7:30 am to 6 pm from Monday 21 March 2022 to Friday 8 April 2022.
During this time, carriageway resurfacing will be completed in preparation for the traffic signal upgrades due in June.
24-hour three-way traffic signals will be in place at the Littlefield Lane, A1136 Cromwell Road / Dudley Street junction.
Littlefield Lane (between Dudley Street and Prince’s Avenue) will be closed for the duration. Access will be maintained to Cromwell Avenue via the Chantry Lane and Littlefield Lane junction with a signed diversion route.
Between 7:30 am and 6 pm on Wednesday 6 April 2022, Littlefield Lane will be closed for carriageway resurfacing and road marking works to be completed.
The second phase, currently scheduled to be completed in June, will include the removal of the existing traffic signal equipment which is at the end of its serviceable life.
New traffic signals will be installed, which aim to improve traffic flow and reduce journey times at the junction.
The council, EQUANS, and PBS Construction (NE) Ltd have apologised in advance for any inconvenience caused.
