Grimsby doctor struck off after hospital scandal

A doctor at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby has been struck off after he was found to be stealing drugs.

According to reports, Dr Stephen Macshane was working as a locum at the hospital at the time of the offences which took place in 2018.

Concerns were raised after a colleague spotted Macshane stealing the drugs.

Hospital officials are said to have reported Macshane, and an investigation was opened.

He was eventually charged with theft.

Appearing at Grimsby Crown Court, Macshane denied all of the charges against him, but was found guilty.

The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service has now said the level of dishonesty displayed by Dr Macshane makes it “impossible” for him to practice as a doctor again.

He has now been handed a six month suspended sentence.

Updates to follow.
