Well-known tapas bar to close after shocking hygiene inspection
A well-known tapas bar and restuarant in Scartho has closed it’s doors after receiving a shockingly low hygiene rating.
Lids, based on Louth Road, received an overall score of zero, with inspectors stating that “urgent improvement is necessary”.
The Food Standards Agency ranked the restaurant “urgent improvement necessary” in all three categories: hygieneic food handling, cleanliness and conditions of facility and building, management of food safety.
In a statement shared to Facebook, the tapas bar and restaurant stated that, although they have closed their Scartho doors, they won’t be shutting down completely.
Instead, they will be moving to a new site with a brand new menu at an unkown date.
They said: “We wanted to thank the Scartho community, our neighbours, our past and present staff and our customers for your continued support over the years you have been AMAZING.
“We have decided to relocate Lids Tapas & Cocktails and will unfortunately no longer be in the Scartho Community.
“We are SUPER excited to show you the new site, there will be a opening launch, new menu and fresh new ideas.
“Keep your eyes peeled on our socials for more information… SEE YOU SOON.”
The new premises have yet to be announced.
When the hygiene rating was published many Scartho locals shared their opinions of the establishment.
One wrote: “Shut it down it’s an eyesore with bins and beer barrels on the front. How did it ever get planning there is no customer parking only using public roads around start a petition to close.”
Another shared: “It’s a joke when I go there for a meal and drinks and spend a lot of money with them. Shame as the food and drinks are lovely.”
One resident called the restuarant a “filthy dump” and wondered at how locals could continue to eat there knowing it’s horrificly low rating.
