Today the Prime Minister made a surprise appearance in Grimsby, visiting Hilton Sea Foods where he had a go at packing fish cakes.
The visit was part of a wider campaign across Lincolnshire as he visited RAF Waddington before heading to Scunthorpe.
However, while in Grimsby Mr Johnson was supposed to make an appearance in Scartho with local Park Ward Conservative candidate Marian Boyd.
The Park Ward by-election is currently underway, with local residents casting their vote for their next representative.
The PM was set to meet with residents down Antrim Way in Scartho this afternoon.
Despite the visit being arranged and local residents standing by to meet with the PM, Mr Johnson’s appearance was reportedly halted by North East Lincolnshire Council.
Reports suggest that council officers cancelled the Prime Minister’s visit to Park Ward but their reasoning for doing so is unknown.
Joining him on his visit to the town in a rare appearance was Grimsby MP and now private secretary Lia Nici.
Ms Nici was recently appointed as Mr Johnson’s private secretary, with many of her constituents responding with anger and branding her ‘invisible’.
