Tragedy as body pulled from Freshney River
Humberside Police have confirmed that the unknown object pulled out of the Freshney River yesterday evening was sadly a body.
The force released an initial statement stating they were ‘responding to an incident’ on Corporation Road, in at 4.30 pm on Saturday.
A police cordon was put in place as they carried out the search behind the Dreams store on Victoria Street North.
Police were called to the scene just after 3 pm due to concerns over a persons safety.
Multiple police vehicles were spotted at the scene alongside CSI teams.
A spokesperson sadly confirmed the news today: “Officers attended Alexandra Quay Marina in Grimsby yesterday (Saturday February 12) following reports of a concern for safety.
“On arrival at the scene sadly the body of a man was found and recovered from the water.
“The circumstances of the man’s death are not thought to be suspicious.”
