Family Fun Day and Brave the Shave held in memory of loved colleague
A family fun day is being held later this month at the Aldi Immingham store in memory of a much loved colleague who sadly lost his life to cancer.
Luke Hanley sadly lost his battle to cancer but now his colleagues wish to celebrate his memory and raise money for charity in his name.
Rebecca Ashley, a colleague at the Immingham Aldi store, created a Crowdfunder in Lukes memory and to share her plans for a family fun day.
A raffle will be held alongside a fancy dress day, a cake sale and much, much more!
She will also be braving the shave and shaving her head to help raise even more money for the fantastic cause.
Sharing the plan to her Crowdfunder page, Rebecca writes: “I am braving the shave in memory of my friend Luke who I had the pleasure of working with at #41 Immingham Aldi. Luke was a big part of our store and is missed so much by us all.
“We will be having a fancy dress day, raffle cake sale plus more. We would love everyone to join in, Luke loved pokemon and harry potter so if you see me in store im moaning myrtle. All money raised will go to lukes familys choice.”
Despite only setting a £1000 target, the page has now raised a wonderful £2,570 in Luke’s memory.
After the fun day Luke’s family will chose which cause they would like to donate the money to.
The fun day will be held on Saturday 12 February and the raffle will be drwan an 11 am.
Rebecca will then brave the shave at 12 pm in the Aldi store.
Many locals have gotten behind Rebecca’s plan and have shared their own memories of Luke.
One wrote: “Luke was a lovely smiley friendly guy who I only knew through coming into the store, I was saddened to hear about him. Good on you Rebecca for braving the shave”.
Another praised Immingham for the community spirit, writing: “Well done Immingham for their generosity and much respect to Rebecca for braving the shave”.
