Exhibition celebrating local art at Grimsby Heritage Centre

Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre has announced an exhibition to celebrate the talent of local artists and the stories of our area.

Pride of Grimsby, an Open Art Exhibition, is looking for the best in North East Lincolnshire contemporary painting, drawing photography or sculpture.

The Fishing Heritage Centre is looking for artwork that conveys stories from the local area, such as industry, heriatge or even personal experience.

Councillor Callum Procter, portfolio holder for economic growth, housing and tourism at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “We are proud of our artistic community and we want to celebrate the wealth of talented artists we have in North East Lincolnshire.

“This event is an exciting opportunity to celebrate local talent. Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham continues to produce incredibly creative and passionate artists and we want to support them in sharing their work with the community.”

There is a prize of £250 for the artist who wins the Judges’ Choice Award. An additional prize of £250 will be awarded for the artist who wins the Visitor’s Choice Award, with an additional £150 for second place and £50 for third place.

Artists can enter up to three pieces of work in any medium.

There is a size limit on any artwork as it must be able to get into the gallery via stairs or the museum lift.

The deadline to submit artwork is 4pm on Sunday 6 March 2022.

The final exhibition will launch on 2 April and run until 29 May 2022, open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
