Police issue statement following serious incident on Peaksfield Avenue
Humberside Police have now issued a statement following a serious incident down Peaksfield Avenue, Grimsby.
Last night (18 January), officers decended on the street after reports of a serious incident at roughly 9:45 pm.
An alleyway was cordoned off with officers remaining at the scene throughout today.
Speaking about the incident, one local resident told Gi Media: “It’s sad the neighbourhood has gone downhill like this.
“It’s shocking and sadenning that this has happened down our street.”
The nature of the incident is still unclear but officers have reassured the public that it is an isolated incident and there is no wider risk.
Officers will remain at the scene to carry out enquiries and to reassure the community.
A spokesperson for the force said: “A scene guard remains in place at a property on Peaksfield Avenue, Grimsby following an incident at 9.45pm last night, Tuesday 18 January.
“The property was found to have been left extremely damaged, however no-one was inside upon arrival.
“The investigation is in the early stages to establish the full circumstances of the incident and what offences may have occurred. We can provide reassurance however, that from what we have ascertained so far, it is believed to be an isolated incident with no wider public risk.
“Officers remain in the area conducting enquiries, but also to provide reassurance to the community. We would encourage anyone with information or concerns to speak to these officers.
