Met Office issues fog warning for Northern Lincolnshire

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for fog affecting large parts of the UK, including North and North East Lincolnshire.

The warning, which was issued at around 10.16am this morning, comes into effect from 7pm tonight (Monday January 17).

It is expected to last until 12 noon tomorrow (Tuesday January 18).

The Humber, the East Midlands, as well as the South East and South West of England should expect widespread fog overnight.

TA warning of freezing fog, which quickly forms a layer of ice when it makes contact with objects such as the pavement, road, and cars, has also been issued.

The Met Office said: “Areas of fog, some of it dense and freezing, will develop during Monday evening and overnight.

“It will persist into Tuesday morning in places.

“Fog will tend to lift into low cloud in many areas on Tuesday, though a few spots may stay foggy into the afternoon.”

The fog is likely to cause travel disruption with the Met Office stating that warnings of dense fog are issued when visibility is expected to fall below 200 metres.
