Parts of Lincolnshire slow on uptake of booster jabs
Concerns have been raised about the amount of people that have not yet received their Covid booster jabs in certain Lincolnshire locations.
Whilst over 80 percent of residents in Lincolnshire have received their third vaccines, places such as Boston have not been as quick on the uptake.
That means that around 435 thousand people in England have received their booster jabs so far, but many are still yet to take up the opportunity.
Extra capacity has now been extended until Sunday 9 January 2022 across the country to bring numbers up further and help the NHS.
Speaking to Lincs FM, Director of Vaccination for Lincolnshire Rebecca Neno said: “90 percent of people in hospital have not had a booster vaccination or, in some cases, [have had] no vaccine at all.
“That’s certainly a strong reason for why people should get the booster.
“There’s also the problem of long covid for some [so] why take a chance?”
With regard to those that appear hesitant, she added: “In many cases, they’re not anti-vaxxers, but they might want to wait a bit longer to understand any possible side effects.
“This is a new vaccine and I understand that, but this is a vaccine that’s been administered to millions of people.”
Rebecca told Lincs FM that she believes working together with communities will reassure people about the effects of the vaccines.
