Police appeal after fatal collision
Humberside Police are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision on Brigg Road.
Yesterday (13 December) at 5;40 pm officers responded to reports of a road traffic collision between Barton and Bonby Road on Brigg Road.
According to reports, a blue Land Rover Freelander collided with a stationary blue Audi A1 before leaving the carriageway and colliding with a nearby tree.
Despite the efforts of emergency services the driver of the Freelander had sustained fatal injuries and sadly passed away at the scene.
Thankfully the driver of the Audi was uninjured.
Officers are now asking anyone with dashcam footage or anyone who saw the collision to come forward.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers were called to the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the B1218 Brigg Road between Barton and Bonby Road at 5:40pm yesterday (Monday 13 December).
“A blue Land Rover Freelander was driving in the direction on Bonby when it collided with a stationary blue Audi A1. The Land Rover Freelander then left the carriageway and collided with a nearby tree.
“The driver of the Land Rover Freelander sustained fatal injuries and sadly, despite the efforts of emergency services the 62-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“The driver of the blue Audi A1 was thankfully uninjured.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends as they come to terms with their loss. They are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time.
“We are appealing for anyone who was driving in the area at the time that may have dashcam footage. We would also appeal for anyone who saw the collision or the vehicles prior to the collision to call us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 375 of 13 December 2021.
