New recycling lorries take to North East Lincolnshire streets
North East Lincolnshire Council has unveiled its new fleet of recycling vehicles with incredible scenes that celebrate the borough’s beaches, parks, and green spaces.
Each of the 20 new lorries aims to encourage people to appreciate the environment on their doorstep and to take action to protect it.
Scenes on the vehicles include Cleethorpes Beach, Weelsby Woods and People’s Park as well as lesser-known places in the borough.
People were also invited to name the new vehicles, the chosen names will be revealed soon by the council.
The Council took delivery of 10 new recycling vehicles this week and they will be rolled out on the recycling bin rounds before Christmas.
Graphic designers at North East Lincolnshire Council created the campaign artwork with images by photography agency Double Red and vehicle manufacturer Dennis Eagle funded the wraps through the social value element of their contract to supply the vehicles.
The new vehicles will replace the 10 ageing bin lorries the Council bought back in 2011, which will now be put up for sale.
The Council’s fleet includes 29 waste and recycling collection vehicles that are used for domestic waste, recycling, garden waste, and food waste.
Cllr Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for Environment and Transport at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “From the Fitties Beach to the River Freshney, and the Lincolnshire Wolds to Weelsby Woods, our new campaign aims to emphasise what a thriving, lush environment we are lucky to have in North East Lincolnshire.
“The 10 new vehicles are like a rolling gallery with giant postcards from different parts of the borough.
“It’s more important than ever that we look after our local environment. The new campaign reminds us that there is one simple way we can all do our bit, and that is to put litter in a bin or take it home.”
