Local organisations gearing up for programme to help local people over 16 into the world of work
The Managing Director of a local company has said it is “absolutely fantastic” to be one of five organisations in North East Lincolnshire to be awarded a share of a prestigious £1.2 million government grant.
The grants – which are part of the UK Community Renewal Fund – were awarded to these organisations to fund a range of important projects which will provide job prospects and opportunities for people living in the area.
CPO and CatZero were together awarded over £147,000 to fund their Inclusion into Employment programme, which will help local people aged over 16 to enter the world of work through a bespoke programme of activities to address their individual needs.
Stephen Ryder, the Managing Director of CPO, told Gi Media: “To be one of five successful organisations out of 27 who originally applied in North East Lincolnshire was actually fantastic. Whilst it’s good for our organisations, the key is it’s good for those who we’re able to support into employment.”
CPO and CatZero will support over 100 people in North East Lincolnshire over the course of seven months through their Community Renewal Fund programme.
Stephen continued: “We will work with whatever their barriers may be, so sometimes you have to address things like financial exclusion, problems with housing, other debt, to make sure that it’s all well and good to get someone in to do training and give them that support to apply for jobs, go through application procedures, interview skills, all of that.
“We put additional support in place to give them every opportunity to move into employment.
“We will stay in touch with the individuals to make sure that things are progressing properly, and if there are any issues with the employment – day-to-day issues like getting to work and being dressed correctly – anything we can help with, we will.
“We’ve had 1,000 jobs made available to us through employment partners in North East Lincolnshire. We know the jobs are there, it’s really just a case of making sure those individuals we support are ready to take those jobs.”
Stephen said he anticipates the project will commence from the beginning of December, and that the individuals who will benefit from the scheme have already been selected.
