Anti-social behaviour in North East Lincolnshire increased by 10 percent, report reveals

Incidents involving anti-social behaviour in North East Lincolnshire have risen by 10 percent, a new report has revealed.

Set to be discussed at an NELC Crime and Disorder Committee meeting on Thursday 28 October, the Community Partnership Report references official statistics for a range of crimes in the area.

It claims that in North East Lincolnshire, anti-social behaviour incidents increased by more than 10 per cent in the 2020/21 period, compared to the 2019/20 period.

According to the report, the East Marsh saw the most incidents involving anti-social behaviour, at 16.4 percent.

The report reads: “ASB incidents (all ages) increased from 3,070 in 2019/20 to 3,388 in 2020/21, an increase of 10.3 percent. However, looking across a longer term this is lower than the 2018/19 result of 3,486 incidents.

“In 2020/21 this included 77 Covid-19 related cases referred to the ASB Team which all led to some form of intervention, usually warning letters.

“The wards experiencing the greatest amount of ASB in 2020/21 were East Marsh at 16.4 percent and West Marsh at 11.7 percent.

“This is a reversal from 2019/20 which saw the highest level of ASB occurring in West Marsh, and is likely due to the closure of Freshney Place, market, licenced premises and offices during the periods of lockdown.”
