By Local people urged to have their say on new housing development in Cleethorpes
Local people now have the chance to give their views on the proposed new housing development in Cleethorpes on the former playing field of Matthew Humberstone school.
The new site is set to include a 90-bed extra care facility and 58 new homes, made up of two and three-bedroom properties and both affordable and retirement housing.
This comes after the Council secured funding from Homes England totalling over £490,000 to support the new homes being built.
A spokesperson from North East Lincolnshire Council said: “Each property will be designed with quality housing, gardens and parking. Benefiting from tree lined streets, the planned design includes sustainable drainage and pond, which will provide a wildlife area for residents.”
Now, residents in the borough can have their say on the proposed layout of the new site and speak to Council officers behind the project.
Speaking about the consultation, Councillor Callum Procter said: “Over the coming years, North East Lincolnshire’s population will grow and with that comes a need for more housing.
“To meet this need, we are doing a lot of work to bring empty homes back into use, as well as looking at disused and brownfield sites where we can develop proposals.
“In this case, this disused site was earmarked for development in the local plan, and we’re now inviting members of the public to have a say in what that development could look like.
“I would encourage people to visit our website and complete the consultation to shape the future of this site.”
