Covid cases on the rise in North Lincolnshire

North Lincolnshire’s director of public health has warned that the infection rate is one of the highest in England as covid cases rise.

Between 23 and 29 September, 1,183 people had a confirmed positive covid test result, an increase of 40.0% compared to the previous week.

More than 150 new cases have been reported every day for the last week, with the return of schools likely contributing to the spread.

The latest rate is 621 cases per 100,000, although parts of the borough are much higher.

As of 21 September, 52 people were in hospital with coronavirus, with seven of those being on a ventilator.

In the last week, two more people in North Lincolnshire sadly died within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test.
