Former Co-operative bank on Osborne Street could be turned into sports bar and grill
Plans have been revealed which show how the former Co-operative bank on Osborne Street in Grimsby town centre could be transformed into a new sports bar and grill.
After sitting derelict for several years, the building could now see a new lease of life, with the planning application showing plans for a sports bar and grill, a retail area and a pool hall on the first floor.
A statement submitted with the application reads: “We appreciate that this building is located within the central Grimsby conservation area. All of the directors involved with this proposal are from the area and as such are keen to enhance and give back to the local area and community.”
It continues: “With this in mind, any changes to the external of the building will be to complement the area and other buildings around it.
“We plan to keep the external brickwork as it is currently, repairing if and when necessary. The rendered parts of the building will be cleaned, repaired if necessary and painted a neutral colour, a medium grey Matt finish exterior masonry paint.
“The windows will be stripped and re-painted, the current window tints/blanks will be removed, and the windows will be repaired as required and new matching tints/blanks installed.”
A comment written on behalf of the Heritage Officer for North East Lincolnshire Council reads: “There are no objections to the change of use of this building, the bringing back into use buildings in conservation areas is supported.
“There is a very light touch to the external changes, which mainly consist of repairs and decoration and there are no objections to these. More information is required regarding the design of the signage.”
