Covid rates in Northern Lincolnshire remain ‘stubbornly high’

In Northern Lincolnshire, 160 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 22 September 2021.

Between 16 September 2021 and 22 September 2021, 845 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 50.9% compared to the previous 7 days.

North Lincolnshire’s Director of Public Health said: “The vaccine remains the number one weapon against the virus but there are other measures that can also help.

“The vaccine uptake in North Lincolnshire has been excellent and there is no doubt that this has helped ease pressure on care services and the NHS. But there are still thousands of people locally who have not yet come forward for their jab. They remain available for every eligible person and I would urge people to come forward as soon as possible.

“Locally, infection rates remain high – especially in younger people but also in people aged between 35 and 45 years old. As well as vaccination we can still do some simple things to keep each other safe – now is not the time to be complacent as we move towards winter.

“The guidance remains – practice good hand hygiene, wear a face covering in crowded places, self-isolate if you have symptoms and book a test, and if you are meeting indoors do what you can to increase ventilation.

“If we continue to do these things and get the vaccine we can protect the NHS and avoid the need for more restrictions to be put in place”.
