For more than a month, residents have been able to appreciate the unique paving designs that were laid down on Garth Lane in Grimsby by the North East Lincolnshire Council.

A new element has been added to the centre of the stones’ wind turbine designs curtesy of CR Reynolds.

The designs were developed with the help of the community throughout the last year and drawn up by artist Paula Denton (from Our Big Picture) and local design company SourceFour.

The first stone, made accurate with the help of Grimsby’s Freemen, displays the Havelock Seal in honour of some of town’s earliest settlers.

The second stone features the natural environment, specifically jellyfish and eels.

The final stone depicts Collinson’s Boatyard, the last boat maker on the docks and the location where Grimsby’s sail trawler, the Esther, was built.

The artwork is due to be fully installed within the next few weeks after a lengthy but imaginative process which saw the original transformation taking form last March.

This follows the site’s official opening earlier this year by the Mayor of NEL after new paving, lighting, CCTV and landscaping was installed.

The Council have also indicated that they are awaiting plans from the Marine Management Organisation so that final touches can be placed upon the river, allowing water sport enthusiasts to have access to the waters.

Work for this project began over a year ago using funding secured from the former Humber Local Enterprise Partnership from the Local Growth Fund (£1.3m) as well as The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government as part of the Grimsby Town Deal (approximately £2.2m).
