Phone ‘n’ Ride developing more employment journeys
Phone ‘n’ Ride is being supported by The Department for Transport’s Access Fund in a bid to create more employment and training journeys for local employers and training providers.
North East Lincolnshire Council, partnered with ENGIE, aims to improve people’s access to employment and training opportunities by creating more bus routes to connect a wider range of people and places.
Phone ‘n’ Ride, managed by ENGIE and their delivery partner Stagecoach East Midlands, is an alternative mode of transport that allows NEL passengers to book their own paths and timetables.
As the region is beginning to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, the NELC and ENGIE are emphasising these alternative bus services to make it easier for residents to access both work and education, particularly in key employment areas like the South Humber bank.
Councillor Stewart Swinburn, NELC’s portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: “Phone ‘n’ Ride has been a lifeline for many over the last 18 months and has continued to provide an essential service during the Covid-19 lockdowns.
“As we all start to return to a form of normality, I would ask employees and students to consider their transport options and remember Phone ‘n’ Ride is open and available to take you to and from your place of work or training.
“The service continues to maintain enhanced cleaning and additional safety measures to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers whilst onboard, so if you did have concerns about safety of travel our team will be happy to discuss these with you and enable you to get back out and about safely.”
If you would like to sign up for these services, check fare information or book a journey, you can call their booking team on (01472) 324440 or visit their website.
