Exhibition to explore rich history of Grimsby’s Park Ward

Discover the story of the Park Ward area of Grimsby from the Middle Ages to the late 20th century at a free exhibition hosted by North East Lincolnshire Archives.

Taking place at St Augustine’s Church, Legsby Avenue, on Saturday September 4 from 10am till 3pm, visitors will have the chance to browse a wealth of resources, including documents connected with the history of St Augustine’s Church and the adjacent Church Hall.

The exhibition will also examine the impact of both World Wars on the local area including a tribute to a First World War fighter ace who lived on Abbey Road and a selection of items connected with the Grimsby Cenotaph.

There will also be a display of documents relating to air raid shelters and the destruction caused by bombing raids in the Second World War.

Adrian Wilkinson, Archivist, Lincs Inspire, said: “This exhibition is being held as part of the Streets and their Stories project. One of the aims of the project is to capture people’s memories of local events, so we are looking forward to meeting anyone who has a story connected with St Augustine’s Church and the surrounding area.”
