Black Dyke’s Bandstand stop off at Scunthorpe care home on their tour!

Black Dyke’s Bandstand tour rolled out its second stage to Scunthorpe and Lincoln.
They stopped off on their latest stretch of the tour at The Valley’s Care village in Scunthorpe to play for the local residents and staff who all had a superb time!
Chairman of United Health, Philip Pearson said: ‘it was wonderful for Black Dyke to share live performances and experience the react from the lovely people in two care homes, The Valleys in Scunthorpe and Bunkers Hill in Lincoln.
‘With over 75 apartments in each care home many of the residents were experiencing their first live music for over 15 months. A number of the residents found the performances extremely emotional and yet very enjoyable’
The band then travelled to the centre of Lincoln to perform in the iconic bandstand in the Arboretum – the band first performed in this wonderful Victorian bandstand in 1887.
Director of Music Professor Nicholas Childs said: ‘there was real enthusiasm from the audience and I hope we won’t have to wait another 140 years before returning again.’
Next week’s tour takes Black Dyke to Ripon Cathedral and the Valley Gardens in Harrogate, where they will be performing with Ripon City Brass and Tewit Youth Band.
