Energy park could create hundreds of new jobs
Plans to create a new ‘green energy park’ on the Flixborough Industrial Estate site in North Lincolnshire could see up to 857 new jobs made available.
A public consultation has been launched, giving residents and local businesses the opportunity to have their say on the proposal.
The UK has set a target of reaching reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, which will require huge transformations in the way we heat our homes, power our industries and travel around the country.
According to developers Solar 21, “the North Lincolnshire Green Energy Park will help meet these challenges while fulfilling a vital public service and furthering the country’s green revolution.”
The site will also include a plastic recycling facility and hydrogen, heat and battery storage, and could generate enough power for 221,000 homes each year.
Up to 257 permanent jobs are likely to be created, with an additional 600 construction jobs to be made available.
“The North Lincolnshire Green Energy Park could help establish the right conditions for another 1000 new jobs overall by attracting businesses to the area,” added a spokesperson.
Colin Hammond, Project Director for North Lincolnshire Green Energy Park, said: “As a country, we need to transform the way we heat our homes, power our industries and travel around, to meet the challenges of climate change. At the North Lincolnshire Green Energy Park, we will use a truly innovative set of technologies to help meet all of these challenges while fulfilling a vital public service and furthering the UK’s green revolution.”

The consultation is open until Sunday 25 July.
An application for a Development Consent Order is expected to be submitted later this year – have your say here.
